Linux Hosting (cPanel) Help

Restore a website from a cPanel backup file in Linux Hosting

You can restore a hacked or damaged website from a backup file. How you complete the restore depends on how you created the backup:

I used... To restore your website...
A manual backup I made in cPanel Follow the steps in this article
Site Backup See Restore my website using Site Backup
A local backup (I have the backup file on my computer) See Upload your files via FTP

Note: No backup file? Contact a GoDaddy Guide for assistance.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy product page.
  2. Under Web Hosting, next to the Linux Hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
    click manage
  3. In the account Dashboard, click cPanel Admin.
  4. In the cPanel Home page, in the Files section, click Backup.
  5. In the Restore a Home Directory Backup area, click Browse and then select the backup file (file name ends in tar.gz) on your local computer.
  6. Click Upload. cPanel begins the restore, and when complete you'll see a (long) list of all the files that were restored.
