What is an IDN, anyway?
The internet is based on Latin and ASCII characters, but what about other alphabets? Some use other characters like ü, ę and õ. Others don’t use Latin characters at all, like Kanji or Cyrillic. The problem is that none of those forms could be used on the internet, because it was all based on ASCII — a language based originally on the English lettering system. So what’s the solution? An IDN, also known as an Internationalized Domain Name.

Say hello to your new domain.

If you want your website to be international, then getting an IDN is a big step forward. By showing your customers that you have a domain in their language, you’re telling them that you understand their needs. It helps them find you online, and provides a more friendly and approachable experience. So if you have a global presence, or are dream of establishing one, an IDN is crucial.
