New to all this DNS, are my A records correct?

I have just moved my domain to GoDaddy - the server admin  for the site my domain  is going to go to  has said I have to add two "A" records

one for the  "bare" url e.g   arandomsitename.co.uk  and one for the full e.g www.arandomsitename.co.uk

Below is what I have entered although with  fake domain name and IP address

In DNS I have added an A Record

Type A  Host @  Value 1.2.3.45

Then added a second A record

Type A  Host www.arandomsitename.co.uk Value 1.2.3.45

Is that the correct way of adding both types of URL or have I missed something

Thanks in advance for any  help/advice

@Trucky

For the bare domain a.k.a. root domain

A  @ for host,  IP for Points to, and I recommend custom / 600 for TTL

for the WWW entry

Option 1) CNAME  -  www for host, @ for points to and custom / 600 for TTL

Option 2) A record - www for host,  IP for Points to, and custom / 600 for TTL

When working in DNS entries the Host is the "blank" in _____.domain.com - so you do not / should not include the full domain in this field (at least with the GoDaddy DNS Management system

Thanks for the swift reply

However

Adding just www in the 2nd  A record brings up an error message ?

Is this where you are getting the error message and if so what is the message?

You probably already have option 1 from above from the default settings.  You can leave it like that, or delete the CNAME for host www if you want to use an A record from the second option.

Thank you both- in case it helps anyone else deleting the CNAME record for www allowed me the to create the A Record for www without the error messge
