Hi, I'm new to hosting and all this.
I want to set up what I think is called a "host name". My domain name is sithempire.net. I want to set up a "host name" that is forums.sithempire.net, that will later be connected to the Xenforo forums platform.
What is the correct terminology for this, and how do I set this up?

Yes, when used for a website it's commonly referred to as a sub-domain.
If you use cPanel from GoDaddy, here are the steps to set one up.

If you use some other host they'll provide an A or CNAME record you'll need to add to the domain.
