Remaining time on products with canceled automatic renewal

This is what GoDaddy support told me tonight:

 

"It seems like you're telling me that I can't turn off automatic renewal without losing access to the remainder of the service that I've already paid for. Is that correct?"
 
"Yes correct."
 
Is this even legal?

I am an end user like you. From what you've posted it seems like you were on chat.

 

From the little you've posted it seems like the chat agent may have understood your question as cancelling a product which is obviously different that shutting off auto-renewal.

 

I've had domains & servers where I shut off the auto renewal - and I continued to use them until the renewal date and which point they went into the redemption period (which varies by product) 

 

Which product where you specifically asking about?
